Man dies scrambbling for politician’s money in Lagos

Lagos - “ The police in Lagos State on Thursday accepted the death of an adolescent man allegedly dead while struggling with others to share money donated by a politician in Ajegunle breadth of the metropolis. 

The spokeman for the State command, Ms Ngozi Braide, who accepted the incident, said the amount was getting investigated.

Braide disclosed that some people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to her, the suspects  will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

“The suspects will be charged to court after a thorough investigation,’’ she said.

However, a reliable source in the area told reporters that the incident occurred when the politician, who had come to inspect ongoing projects, donated large sums of money to the youths.

The source said attempt by some people to prevent some social miscreants (area boys) from bolting with the money led to a free-for-all.

“The money the politician brought when he visited the area caused the fight at 7-Up Bus Stop, Ajegunle.

“There was a heated argument over the sharing of the money; a fight ensued and in the process,  a man was killed at the scene,’’ said the source. (NAN)
