Players of Ikorodu United escape death after tragic accident

Players of Ikorodu United Football Club on Friday escaped death in a ghastly autocrash in Enugu State.

The team’s coach, Sam Okpodu, who broke the news on Brila FM, said the team was heading to Enugu for a scheduled Round 23 Premier League match with Lobi FC when their driver suddenly veered off the road near 9th Mile Corner, about 25 minutes away from the Coal City.

The driver took the sudden manoeuvre to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle, which crashed into other vehicles.

Three players were injured while five passengers in some other vehicles died.

Okpodu said the team would ask for a re-scheduling of the match as the players would not be in a good psychological state for the tie.
